DuPont Expands Operations in Singapore
SINGAPORE, March 13, 2014 – DuPont today announced that it has opened a third manufacturing site in Singapore. The new site at Tuas South houses the formulation facility of two DuPont Crop Protection blockbuster insect control products Rynaxypyr® and Cyazypyr® as well as a color ink manufacturing facility for DuPont Digital Printing.
DuPont Crop Protection makes products and provides expertise needed to effectively protect crops and make every acre count from seed to harvest. The Tuas South facility will allow the business to supply bulk formulations to Asia Pacific and Brazil.
DuPont Digital Printing is a leading world supplier of aqueous inkjet inks and has developed a variety of innovative products that bring value to the digital printing industry. The new facility is the business’ third ink manufacturing facility around the world and the first manufacturing site outside of the USA.
DuPont established its presence in Singapore since 1973. Since the divestment of nylon intermediates and Lycra®, the company has steadily increased its footprint here. Zytel® nylon resin facility on Jurong Island started in 1995 and expanded. DuPont™Vespel® parts facility in Tuas West started in 2008 and expanded to serve the aerospace and other industries .
“We are excited that Singapore has once again been chosen for Crop Protection and Digital Printing’s new facilities to better serve customers in ASEAN, the rest of Asia and beyond. The new site strengthens our ability to better serve our customers. In addition, the facility allows DuPont to bring in the latest technology and industry know-how to capture growth in the region. We wish to extend our appreciation to the Singapore EDB for their strong support,” said DuPont Singapore Managing Director Hsing Ho.
This new investment by DuPont in Singapore is another example of the 211 year old company working to find sustainable, innovative, market-driven solutions to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges – making lives better, safer, and healthier for people everywhere.
“The Tuas South site will provide a formulation facility for our two blockbuster insect control products - Rynaxypyr® and Cyazypyr™. With the projected growth for Rynaxypyr® in the region and the introduction of Cyazypyr® there is a compelling need to improve reliability, flexibility and responsiveness to an optimum level enabling us to reduce risk of single point of manufacture and deliver maximum value from our investments,” said DuPont Crop Protection President Rik Miller.
DuPont Crop Protection has based its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore since 2007. This new site further strengthens the business’ position in one of the fastest growing regions of the globe, ultimately creating greater value for its customers.
Today, the DuPont Digital Printing business is celebrating 25 years of innovation, and DuPont continues to invest in its growth. It has become a leader in the home and office inkjet markets, where about 75 percent of ink consumption occurs in Asia Pacific. The other key growth segment is in textile printing, where DuPont™ Artistri® ink plays a lead role in technology and volume. China and India are major textile hubs representing about 60 percent of global textile printing today. The new site is well positioned to support the expected growth of digital inkjet textile printing in these markets.
