Kevlar® Thread - Increased Effectiveness in Fire-Resistant Mattresses
DuPont™ Kevlar® Thread stays strong at high temperatures, so it can help increase the overall effectiveness of fire resistance in mattresses and furnishings.
Sewing threads made with Kevlar® help increase the overall effectiveness of fire-resistant (FR) mattresses by maintaining the integrity of the seams between the panels containing FR material. Because Kevlar® threads made of Kevlar® aramid fibers retain much of their strength at high temperatures, they can help the seams and tape edges stay sealed, which keeps out flames that would threaten to breach the FR barrier and ignite the fuel materials inside the mattress. Several thread producers offer threads of Kevlar® in a variety of colors.
